I have mentioned this before, but since there are some new miniacs around, I think it is worthy of repeating.  At the Dragon event, there are some of the best Mini mechanics in the country making themselves available.  If you are not a mechanic, like me, and are interested (but a little nervous) in having upgrades done to your car (and there are many legitimate ones), this is a unique opportunity to have an upgrade done by the best, at the same price you would pay to have it done by a mechanic of mediocre (or at least unknown) credentials.  In the past, I have had Way Motor Works, of Atlanta, install a rear swaybar (my 1st performance mod) and last year a 15% pulley package.  In both cases, I received excellent advice on choosing what to have installed and was confident it was being done properly.  I was delighted with the result in both cases, and have never regretted either decision for a second.  This year, Waylen will be installing fixed camber plates in my car (mostly to prevent mushrooming of the shock towers, but also to improve cornering a bit and help tire wear).  Waylen, and the others like him, are sponsors at most Mini events and on most forums, so it is good to support them.

I know tire wear is going to be my big project this year.  My rear tires especially are wearing on the inside edge.

What to do.  What to do?

Some discussion of that here; at least it doesn't sound like a major problem hiding somewhere.  Partly the nature of the beast, maybe a little higher pressure on the rears would help.

I loved the way my last set of tires cornered at 38, BUT they had to be replaced at 21K, because they went bald in the middle (pressure too high).  I'm running this set at the pressure shown on the door jamb sticker and they are 28K and can hold out a little longer.  I think with each set, you have to watch the wear pattern (like you are doing) and make adjustments (like you are doing).

I will probably replace mine a little earlier than necessary, just so I have time to break in the new ones BEFORE I take them on the Dragon. Grin
